PDS-30 overview
The PDS-30 is a manual hard drive and media destroyer. It uses up to 3 tons (6,000 lbs.) of force and a hardened conical tooling point to punch, break and mangle hard drives and other media in five seconds or less.
The PDS-30 Manual Hard Drive Destroyer is designed to manually destroy hard drives of all types simply and efficiently. It uses up to 3 tons (6,000 lbs.) of force and a hardened conical tooling point to punch, break and mangle hard drives and other media in five seconds or less. The PDS-30 can handle all types of hard drives, from laptop (2.5 format) and standard 3.5 format hard drives from 0.65" to 1.65" thick. It can also destroy magnetic tapes (DLT, LTO etc.), cell phones, printed circuit boards and other electronic media.
NOTE: To comply with recognized standards, including NSA/DoD regulations, a degausser must be used prior to destroying hard drives. In a typical national security operation, a destroyer is used in conjunction with a NSA approved degausser. Using a degausser is the only way to guarantee all data on hard drives and other magnetic media is completely unrecoverable. This is because it is possible to recover data from a mere piece of a hard drive that has not been degaussed.

- Most customers buy the PDS-30 together with a T-1 or T-1.2 degausser — the degausser sanitises, the PDS-30 then reduces the drive to scrap.
