The Proton T-5 Hard Drive Degausser is the fastest and most effective degausser on the market today. Listed on the NSA/CSS Evaluated products list (NSA EPL-Degausser), the T-5 removes data from all magnetic devices, including Laptop, Desktop & Network Hard Drives, and LTO & DLT Tapes.

Operation is simple; Drop your magnetic media into the slot, then push the button. In 20 seconds of less, the Proton T-5 effectively and permanently destroys confidential and classified information. It un-aligns magnetic fields within the media material, ensuring that prior data retrieval is impossible. The Proton T-5 produces a magnetic field of at least 20,000 Gauss (2 Tesla) per cycle. The Proton T-5 Degausser features a digital cycle counter and an LCD status display. Its compact and portable design is perfect for desktop or floor use. T-4 or T-5 — which one?

Both are NSA EPL listed. The T-4 is the bi-directional ±20,000 Gauss workhorse with an internal Gaussmeter and a 12 V battery option; the T-5 is the higher-throughput 2 Tesla machine with a digital cycle counter and a faster cycle. Most Indian customers running high volumes choose the T-5; secure-room and tender-compliance work usually chooses the T-4.

What is the destruction rate?

At roughly 20 seconds per cycle, a single T-5 can sanitise around 180 drives per hour, or over 1,400 drives in a full 8-hour shift.

Does the T-5 need a separate destroy step?

No. Degaussing is a recognised sanitisation method on its own for magnetic media under NIST 800-88. Many customers add a PDS-100 crusher purely as a physical-destruction second barrier and to process the resulting scrap.
