The Proton T-1 is a drawer-style hard drive degausser that delivers a minimum 1 Tesla (10,000 Gauss) magnetic pulse per cycle in about 20 seconds. At only 20 seconds per cycle, it is the fastest operating degausser of its kind currently available. In addition to the quick cycle time, operation of the unit is simple. Just insert the media into the drawer and push the start button.
The LCD screen on the front of the machine shows the operator a progress bar of the degaussing stage while in operation, and a “Successful” notification with accurate Gauss and Tesla ratings once the cycle has been completed. With universal voltage, the unit will work anywhere in the world, with no need to specify the motor. It meets US Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Security Services (DSS) requirements for sanitizing unclassified data. It also destructs confidential and sensitive data in accordance with the National Institute of Standards (NIST).
Not only will the T-1 Degausser work on hard drives up to 4 terabytes in size, it will degauss any magnetic media that will fit into the drawer. This includes laptop, desktop, and network drives and storage tapes (DLT, LTO, DDS/DAT).
